Editorial | DSS must come clean about alleged rape

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The allegation that the S.C. Department of Social Services placed a teenage girl in the care of a 42-year-old male neighbor who repeatedly raped her is extremely disturbing. If it is true, it's an unforgivable outrage.

Presumably, DSS had determined that the girl was in peril if left in her parents' home. But once the agency took her into custody, it became the state's responsibility to place her in a safe, nurturing temporary environment that didn't further threaten the child's well being. That's not what is alleged to have happened.

COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - A South Carolina couple is suing the state's social services agency, claiming that case workers negligently placed their teenage daughter in the care of a male neighbor and that she was repeatedly raped over months.

Inc. and National Golf Management, LLC, which owns or manages nearly one-third of the Grand Strand's golf courses, are facing allegations that they violated federal labor laws by failing to pay employees minimum wage and overtime pay, according to a collective-action lawsuit filed in federal court in Florence.

Myrtle Beach area timeshare sales consultants sue Wyndham for overtime pay

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - A group of former Wyndham Vacation Resorts employees have filed a class-action lawsuit against the timeshare company claiming they were not paid for overtime hours they worked, but a lawyer for Wyndham says the employees chose to work extra hours that they didn't report in the hopes of making more sales.
